There have been renewed Russian attacks on Ukraine's western city of Lviv this morning, close to the Polish border - where many refugees have fled.
Military intelligence suggests Russian forces have made minimal progress this week.
US defence officials say there is "anecdotal" evidence morale in some units is flagging.
