New sanctions
The European Parliament has voted for an immediate and full ban on Russian fossil fuel imports.
The Commission is working on new measures, which include a ban on Russian coal, and Russian ships entering EU ports - but getting agreement is difficult.
Belgian MP Guy Verhofstadt made an impassioned plea for more sanctions and an emergency European Council meeting to sign off on them:
