Second delivery from NHS this year
The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is importing a consignment of blood from the UK due to a shortage in supply here.
It's the second time this year a delivery from the NHS has been needed.
410 units are being collected from Manchester today.
The IBTS is appealing for public support to maintain supply over the coming months.
It has been severely impacted by appointments being cancelled due to Covid-19 illnesses, and Storm Barra and the loss of approximately 300 donations.
