49 new infections reported today
Covid-19 case numbers in New Zealand have fallen for the second day in a row in an early indication the strict lockdown is taking effect.
49 new infections were reported this morning, a decrease from 53 yesterday.
The country's health officials estimate the virus' reproduction number is below 1.
The country has been in a strict lockdown since 17th August, when a single case was detected.
Since then, the outbreak has grown to 612 infections.
