Whole country in lockdown for 3 days, Auckland in lockdown for 7
New Zealand has recorded two new cases of Covid-19.
The growing cluster, which is currently 10 cases, has been linked to a Delta variant outbreak in Sydney.
Modelling numbers suggest numbers could increase to between 50 & 100 cases.
Jane Quinn, President of the Auckland Irish Society, says citizens are prepared for more:
The country entered a strict lockdown yesterday, for 3 days, after reporting its first Covid-19 case in six months.
Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, announced restrictions following the confirmation of 1 Covid case on Tuesday, a male in Auckland.
Two areas, Auckland and Coromandel, will be in lockdown for seven days.
Residents will only be allowed leave their homes for exercise, medical supplies and the visiting of supermarkets.
New Zealand's first community Covid-19 case in six months is the Delta variant -- and genome sequencing shows that it's linked to the growing outbreak in neighboring Australia, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said. https://t.co/g1ndS839RL
