Opening Statements In Sex Abuse Trial Of R. Kelly To Be Heard Today

54 year-old charged with racketeering

The opening statements are expected to be heard later today in the trial of R Kelly.

The R&B singer, whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, is facing charges of racketeering, with underlying charges including sexual exploitation of children, kidnapping, and sex trafficking of women & girls.

The 54 year old is accused of using his managers and bodyguards to help him groom women for sex, over two decades.

Kelly is being held in custody in New York, where the trial will take place.

Kelly has pleaded not guilty and denies any wrongdoing.
