Scottish elections are taking place today, in a ballot that could decide whether there is a second referendum on independence.

The election will also decide the next Scottish parliament, which has considerable power over health, education and income tax.
The Scottish National Party is tipped for a fourth term of office.
The party's hopes of a majority are on a knife edge, which is seen as central to the country's independence hopes.
