Just days after American troops pulled out of their military base in Afghanistan, Taliban fighters have ramped up their offensive.

The rebels have captured several districts in the north of the country from fleeing Afghan forces.

The Taliban's gradually made progress since April, when the US announced it was withdrawing after a military presence of nearly 20 years following the 9/11 terror attacks.
