Thousands of people have been evacuated from the path of lava flows on La Palma after a volcano erupted on the Spanish Canary Island yesterday afternoon.

Several roads have been cut by the rivers of molten rock -- though authorities believe nobody's been hurt so far.

Geologists say the eruption could go on for weeks or months, with the lava flows continuing through the countryside and into the sea.
