EU, US, Canada, UK, Japan & Australia have all announced fresh sanctions on Russia
The President of the European Council has called for an emergency summit tomorrow to discuss sanctions against Russia.
Charles Michel sent the invitation to European leaders for an in person meeting which will start at 8pm tomorrow in Brussels.
In his invitation to leaders, including the Taoiseach, President Michel said the Russian incursion into Ukraine broke international law.
He wants to discuss sanctions, the way forward and how to support Ukraine.
The harshest sanctions against Russia "may be kept in reserve" according to the Ukrainian Ambassador to Ireland.
The United States, Canada, EU, UK, Japan and Australia have all announced fresh sanctions on Moscow, placing restrictions on banks and individuals close to Vladimir Putin.
It's in response to the rising fears of a Russian invasion of Ukraine.
