It's the first time the Ukrainian capital been hit since the beginning of the conflict.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claims Moscow is trying to wipe his country "off the face of the earth".
There have been blasts elsewhere, including Lviv, Kharkiv and Dnipro.
Ukraine's top general says 41 Russian missiles were shot down, out of 75 fired.
