South of the country worst affected
16 people were awaiting beds in Naas General hospital at 8am, this morning.
According to the INMO's trolley watch figures 319 patients nationally were waiting for beds.
229 patients were waiting in hospital emergency departments, with 90 people waiting in wards elsewhere in the hospital.
Hospitals south of the country were the worst affected, with 30 people on trolleys at Cork University Hospital, 20 at University Hospital Kerry, followed by University Hospital Limerick, where 19 people were awaiting beds.
The 319 patients on trolleys is a significant decrease from Monday's figure, when 534 people were awaiting beds in the Irish hospital system - the highest number since the pandemic was declared.
34 people were waiting on trolleys in Naas General on Monday, 13th December.
