Questions are being asked about the number of homes granted permission in Kildare, on which work hasn't started.

In general, planning permission granted for housing developments have a lifespan of 5 years.

In certain situations, the duration of the permission to build can be extended by Kildare planners, on application by the developer.

Social Democrats Cllr., Bill Clear, wants to know "how many residential developments have been granted planning permission in Kildare in the last seven years but have not commenced building. "

His motion will be debated at today's monthly meeting of Kildare County Council.
