KCC expects the cost to be recouped by 2029.
Energy up-grades to Kildare's Fire Stations are costing €250,000.
The stations are in Naas, Newbridge, Athy, Monasterevin, Maynooth and Leixlip.
Kildare County Council says the heating systems are being brought up to date, solar panels are being installed, and lighting and insulation improved.
The total cost of the works, according to the 2020 annual report, has a "payback time ranging up to 8 years".
