5,700 users affected in Monasterevin, Kildangan, Kilberry and parts of North Athy
Irish Water and Kildare County Council have issued a Boil Water Notice to those who use the Monasterevin Public Water Supply.
The Boil Water Notice has been put in place as a precautionary measure following issues with the disinfection process at the Water Treatment Plant.
This has led to the inadequate chlorination of the water supply, although it is still safe to use for hygiene purposes.
The problem will affect almost 5,700 users in Monasterevin, Kildangan, Kilberry and parts of North Athy.
Irish Water says their drinking water compliance and operational experts are working with colleagues in Kildare County Council and in consultation with the HSE, to resolve this situation with a view to lifting the precautionary boil notice as soon as possible.
