Social Democrats Face Wednesday Deadline For Candidate Nominations To Replace Kildare North TD Catherine Murphy

Kfm has reached out to Cllr Peter Melrose and Cllr Nuala Killeen to confirm their intentions.

The deadline for members of the Social Democrats to put their name forward to replace Kildare North TD Catherine Murphy is this Wednesday.

Cllr Nuala Killeen is the latest Cllr to confirm that she will be putting her name forward to replace Deputy Murphy in the next general election.

Cllr Aidan Farrelly and Cllr Bill Clear will also be putting their names forward.

It follows a recent announcement by Deputy Murphy that she will not contest the forthcoming election.

Kfm has reached out to Cllr Peter Melrose and Cllr Claire O'Rourke to confirm their intentions.

A meeting was held last Monday, with party members issued with an application pack.

Each applicant will be interviewed by the candidate selection committee.

After the interview the Party will decide if the applicants will go forward to the selection convention.
