Independent Cllr. Fiona McLoughlin Healy has made the proposal in a motion before today's monthly meeting of the Kildare/Newbridge Municipal District.
She says the zoned lands, on the far side of the town's Linear Park, could provide " an optimal location for a number of leisure amenities."
