It will mean no public play area for the town's thousands of children.
There is anger at the fact that Kilcock's playground is being closed, and not initially relocated, to facilitate construction of a €2 million community centre
Kildare County Council says contractors will break ground on the Bawnogues building on June 8th.
The centre will be a two-storey, multi-use community facility, and construction will take 10 months.
The playground there is being closed, and, KCC says, the area's playground will be closed, and ultimately, relocated.
I'll be on @kfmradio in the morning around 9.40am with one of mams re the proposed closure, for up to 18 months, of the #Kilcock Playground.

We are treating our children deplorably in housing, healthcare, childcare, education, special education and now play.

Kildare North Sinn Fein TD Réada Cronin, has been speaking to Kildare Today.
Kilcock parent, Sabrina O'Reilly, says she contacted elected representatives after finding out about the closure.
The community centre will be built here, according to this KCC map:

KCC says a location has been identified within the Bawnogues site for a "new and bigger playground".
And, it adds, it will "co-ordinate the design of the new playground while centre works are ongoing, with a view to progressing to construction when centre works are complete."
Deputy Cronin and Sabrina O'Reilly joined Eoin Beatty on Thursday's edition of the programme.
