Council At "Advanced Stage" In Plans To Acquire Alms House In Naas After Redevelopment Setback

The Peter McVerry Trust had intended to redevelop this property for housing accommodation purposes but have recently advised they are no longer in a position to carry out this redevelopment.

Kildare County Council is at an "advanced stage" regarding the purchase of the Alms House on the Dublin Road in Naas.

The Peter McVerry Trust had intended to redevelop this property for housing accommodation purposes but recently advised they are no longer in a position to carry out the redevelopment.

The council had also been in talks with St Vincent de Paul regarding its ownership and future use.

The house, vacant for at least 20 years, was originally founded to house the poor women of Naas centuries ago.
