The Department of Integration has been reducing the number of contracts for accommodation across the country, citing a variety of reasons.
The relocation of residents from the Coast Rosslare Strand Hotel will still take place tomorrow - but they won't be accommodated at Floods Cross.
The group, composed of people fleeing the war in Ukraine and currently living in State-provided temporary accommodation, will be moved to alternate facilities within Wexford.
This change comes as part of ongoing adjustments to Ireland's accommodation portfolio for Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection (BOTP).
Initially, the residents were expected to be relocated to the Relocations Hub Floods Cross.
However, due to operational challenges, the move to Kildare will no longer proceed.
In response, alternative accommodation in Wexford has been arranged, with the transition planned for this Friday.
The Department of Integration has been reducing the number of contracts for accommodation across the country, citing a variety of reasons.
These include a decreased demand for housing, compliance concerns, a focus on value for money, and an increased need for oversight in managing the portfolio.
The Department has emphasised that accommodation contracts are being regularly reviewed and terminated as part of this consolidation process.
A spokesperson said that while the government is making efforts to keep displaced Ukrainians as close to their current locations as possible, this is not always feasible given the scale of the ongoing relocations.
The Department encourages those who wish to remain in their current area to explore other housing options, including pledged accommodation from the community.
Priority in follow-on accommodation is determined solely by medical needs assessed by the Health Service Executive (HSE).
Kfm highlighted earlier how an 87-year-old woman was due to be transported to Floods Cross.
She has dementia and is wheelchair-bound.
She is one of the people who will now remain in Wexford.
