Economist: Most Of Ireland's Forecast National Debt Is A "Legacy" Of The Crash.

Its predicted to be around €38 billion.

Its claimed that most of the forecast national debt is a "legacy of the financial crisis".

Finance Minister, Pascal Donohoe, has told the national economic dialogue that government debt will stand at close to a quarter of a trillion euro by the end of the year.

The Irish Times reports that  Taoiseach Micheál Martin told the same event State expenditure over the last year or so on foot of the pandemic - of about €38 billion - was “not sustainable”.

Prof. Seamus Coffey is a Lecturer at the Dept. of Economics, at UCC, and a former chair of the Fiscal Advisory Council.
