The Inland Waterways Association of Ireland (IWAI) had organised a major cruise involving events on the Grand and Royal canals, with participants spending over a year preparing, while some bought boats for the event.
Met Éireann says stations in counties Mayo, Galway, Roscommon, Kerry, Dublin, Clare, Meath, Tipperary and Cavan saw new highs.
Kildare has six fire stations, with Naas and Newbridge being the only ones that have a full-time station officer each rather than a retained one. All other fire fighters across the six stations are retained, meaning firefighters are paid a retainer and carry pagers in order to respond to calls.
Those availing of the grant get €50,000 if a building has been vacant for more than two years.
The participating sites include some of Ireland’s most iconic landmarks, historic houses, castles, and gardens, including certain sites across the county.
From January 1 to April 29 this year, the council issued 9,156 parking tickets.
