From Landfill To Landmark: Kerdiffstown Park To Open On Monday With Sports Pitches And A Mythical Trail

A unique feature of Kerdiffstown Park is its "Stones of the Hollow Hill" trail, which includes 18 carved stones telling stories of the local landscape and mythology.

Kerdiffstown Park in Naas will offically open on Monday.

The project, completed ahead of schedule after a four-year construction phase that began in November 2020, has transformed the former Kerdiffstown Landfill into a 30-hectare public park, offering an array of amenities for both locals and visitors.

The park's development, which used the latest landfill management and sustainable construction techniques, remediated what was once a heavily polluted landfill into a modern, multi-use facility.

The rejuvenated site includes two full-size all-weather sports pitches, three five-a-side pitches, scenic walking trails, ecological areas, open green spaces, a playground, visitor parking, and age-friendly seating.

A unique feature of Kerdiffstown Park is its "Stones of the Hollow Hill" trail, which includes 18 carved stones telling stories of the local landscape and mythology.

The mythical trail was created by artist and stone carver James Winnett.

The park’s all-weather sports pitches will be available for booking from October 21, 2024, through the park's official website.
