The incident happened on a footpath on Claregate Street
Gardaí are appealing for information after an assault took place at Claregate Street, Kildare Town on Monday at 6pm.
Gardaí were doing a mobile patrol, and observed a young man on the footpath who appeared to be in distress.
When approached, the young man told them he had been punched by a number of youths on Claregate Street just before the gardaí arrived.
The young man was shook up, and could not provide a description of the attackers.
Gardaí ask anyone who saw or know of this group of youths to contact Athy Garda Station on 059 863 4210 so that the matter can be resolved.
