The driver also tested positive for cocaine
A motorist was arrested in County Kildare earlier this week after being caught driving 57km/h over the speed limit while under the influence of cocaine.
During a routine patrol, the Naas Roads Policing Unit spotted a vehicle traveling at 157km/h in a 100km/h zone, despite heavy rain and poor visibility from road spray.
After stopping the vehicle, officers found that the car’s tax was overdue by 239 days.
A roadside drug test revealed the driver was positive for cocaine.
The motorist was arrested at the scene for dangerous and drug-impaired driving, and the vehicle was seized by Gardaí.
