Heritage Week 2024: Kildare’s Rich Legacy To Shine At Over 100 Events

This year's theme, "Connections, Routes & Networks," highlights the interconnectedness of roads, traditions, species, and ecosystems.

Heritage Week 2024, running from Saturday, August 17th to Sunday, August 25th, will celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Kildare and the rest of Ireland.

This year's theme, "Connections, Routes & Networks," highlights the interconnectedness of roads, traditions, species, and ecosystems.

In Kildare, a variety of events are planned, including barge trips, biodiversity walks, and exhibitions suitable for all ages.

Most events are free, though some may require booking or are weather-dependent.

Heritage Week is co-ordinated by the Heritage Council and supported by the Department of Housing, Local Government, and Heritage, aiming to deepen public understanding of local heritage.

Alan Dunney, Director of Service at Kildare County Council, praised the community's enthusiasm, noting over a hundred events organised by local groups. The week is part of a Europe-wide initiative to foster awareness and conservation of cultural heritage.
