Some listeners have been contacting Kfm, angry that they could not vote today.
A morning of frustration and confusion unfolded outside Mercy Convent Primary School in Naas as voters struggled with limited access, blocked roads, and inadequate parking, creating significant difficulties for those with mobility issues.
Listeners have been contacting Kfm, angry that they could not vote today.
"There was just no way to get through," said one frustrated voter, Marie. "I couldn't even get close to the school gates. There's no parking, no accessibility, and the road is a mess."
She said her husband and herself had to go home.
"I've voted all my life. I'm angry that I couldn't vote today," she said.
The entrance to the school, located beside Our Lady's and St David's Church, was blocked by barriers, making it nearly impossible for those with disabilities or mobility issues to access the school.
Some locals who attempted to park nearby found themselves stuck in a chaotic scene, as limited spaces were quickly filled and traffic backed up.
"There's no joined-up thinking here," Marie said.
"Where is the planning for accessibility? How are people with disabilities supposed to manage this?"
Other listeners with mobility issues have been contacting Kfm, with one woman in her 70s having to sit in her car for 15 minutes to recover after trying to vote.
A returning officer said anyone with issues should contact him and they will be accommodated elsewhere.
They also said that parking is being made available at St Mary's College next door and there will be no barriers.
They said the road was dug up two months ago and that it's a long-term project and did not happen in recent days.
Here's what Marie had to say:
Polling stations across the country opened this morning at 7am and will remain open until 10pm tonight.
Voters should bring their polling card with them, along with personal identification.
