Traffic have increased, significantly, in Clane following the road's opening.
Kildare County Council says traffic counts on routes negatively affected by the opening of the Sallins By-Pass have already taken place.
Social Democrats Cllr., Aidan Farelly, wanted KCC to commission counts on the R407 between Clane, Sallins and Kilcock.
Volumes have increased, significantly, in Clane following the road's opening and the easing of Covid 19 restrictions.
The council says the R407 was surveyed in May .
It says an addition could can be conducted following completion of the Regional Road traffic count programme, and this should be completed before year's end.
