In Kildare, parents are facing some of the highest monthly fees for creches in Ireland.
According to an Irish Independent survey of 220 private childcare facilities, parents face a monthly cost of €1,400 for full-day care, placing it among the more expensive regions.
The survey revealed that south Dublin holds the record for the most expensive creche, with a staggering monthly fee of €1,578 per child for full-day care.
Conversely, in Monaghan, parents enjoy the lowest rates, with fees as low as €340 per month.
This significant €1,238 price gap between the highest and lowest-priced creches highlights the disparity in childcare costs across the country. Notably, creches in Dublin and its surrounding border counties emerge as the most expensive nationwide, while regions in the west and north-west offer more affordable options.
Following closely behind south Dublin in terms of expense are areas like Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, where fees can reach up to €1,450 per month for full-day care. Kildare comes next, with a monthly cost of €1,400, followed by Dublin city with fees around €1,300.
