Elected members of the Athy MD took turns to offer their congratulations to Mick Aldridge

Members of the Athy Municipal District of Kildare County council today presented a Certificate of Recognition to Mick Aldridge, co-founder of Athy Karate Club.

At the meeting of the Athy Municipal District in Aras Chill Dara on Monday 17th April, members of Athy Karate Club gathered, as the long-standing club Sensei received the honour, the first of its kind to be bestowed by the Athy Municipal District.

Elected members of the Athy MD took turns to offer their congratulations to Mick for his longstanding commitment and contribution to Athy Karate club, its proud history and the broader community of Athy and beyond.

As the club celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2023, its members have published a book commemorating its 50-year history, copies were presented at the meeting to members of Kildare County Council.

The book titled ‘Athy Karate Club: 50 Years in the Making 1973 - 2023’ will be displayed in Athy Library in the coming weeks.
