100,000 people, nationwide, are waiting to sit the test.
A Kildare man is being prevented from taking up a new job because he cannot undertake the driver theory test, and obtain a provisional licence.
23 year old Daniel Bradley is a trained pre-paramedic, and is among 100,000 people, nationally, waiting to take the test.
The test is available to prospective bus and truck drivers, only.
Around 90,000 people across Ireland are also waiting to sit the driving test.
Daniel's father, Mark, has been speaking to Kildare Today.
He says his son, who lives with Asperger's Syndrome, has had his theory test delayed numerous times in the last year.
Mark Bradley joined Eoin Beatty on Thursday's edition of Kildare Today.
