Kildare Road Users Urged To Take Caution During Easter Weekend

A woman in her 30's died in a fatal crash in Tipperary overnight.

Kildare road users are being urged to take caution this Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

Gardaí are warning motorists that the risk of being killed or seriously injured in road crashes is particularly high today.

A woman in her 30's has died in the latest fatal crash on the nation's roads.

The two-car collision happened on the N24 at Kilsheelan in County Tipperary overnight.

Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the site of the crash shortly before 10pm, where a woman in her thirties - a passenger in one of the cars - was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, a man in his 40's, was taken to Waterford University Hospital for treatment - along with the driver and a passenger from the second car, both men in their late teens,.

A teenage girl, also in the second car, was taken Tipperary University Hospital for treatment.

The road was closed for forensic examinations, and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

This latest tragedy brings to 56 the number of people who have lost their lives so far this year in road collisions.

Checkpoints are in place across the country as part of the Garda Easter Bank Holiday road safety enforcement campaign, which will continue until Tuesday morning.
