Slight Decline In Motor Thefts Across Kildare

In the second quarter of 2024, 70 motor theft incidents were reported, reflecting a decline of 17 cases compared to the first quarter of the year.

There has been a slight decrease in motor thefts within the Kildare Garda Division.

In the second quarter of 2024, 70 motor theft incidents were reported, reflecting a decline of 17 cases compared to the first quarter of the year.

However, the national picture presents a more concerning trend, with a total of 4,037 motor theft and related offences recorded across Ireland in the first half of 2024.

Dublin continues to be the epicentre of motor theft in Ireland, with 2,185 vehicles reported stolen in 2024.

Following Dublin, Cork and Limerick reported 405 and 312 thefts, respectively.

These regions also ranked as the top three areas for motor theft throughout 2023.

7,638 motor thefts were reported in 2023, with 5,000 of those vehicles being cars.
