The Fund aims to support the development of facilities in communities that have welcomed citizens from Ukraine
Some €807,328 has been granted for Kildare County Council from the Community Recognition Fund.
It's designed to specifically support communities across the country that have welcomed and are hosting families and citizens from Ukraine and other countries.
Kildare South TD and Minister Martin Heydon commented: “The Fund aims to support the development of facilities that will be used in the future by all members of the community, including sports clubs, community organizations, transport infrastructure, and local groups in recognition of the vital role that a thriving community plays in overcoming the collective challenges from the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
“Communities across Kildare have exhibited exceptional generosity in recent weeks, extending the open arms of hospitality and opening their homes and facilities to those fleeing war.
“I would like to encourage community groups across Kildare to engage directly with Kildare County Council in the coming weeks to ensure that high quality projects can be delivered from this funding, benefitting our towns and villages for years to come.” Minister Heydon concluded.
