Learner drivers in Kildare are facing an estimated wait time of up to 30 weeks for a driving test.
In an analysis carried out by road safety campaigners Parc, learner drivers are waiting up to eight months in some counties.
Kildare has one of the highest estimated waiting times, with the Naas testing centres varying from a wait time of 29 to 30 weeks.
This is followed by Dún Laoghaire in Dublin, which has an estimated wait time of 27-29 weeks.
As well as long waiting times for driving tests, the number of no-shows have increased.
According to Road Safety Authority (RSA) data, between January 1st and December 31st, last year there were a total of 6,440 drivers who failed to attend scheduled tests, a monthly average of 537 drivers.
Between January 1st and October 3rd this year, there were a total of 6,016 no-shows.
This is a monthly average of 668, and retained fees by the RSA from these no-shows amounted to €511,360.
