Phase 1 of the upgrade is complete.
The Lidl junction in Sallins will open this afternoon, ahead of schedule following on-going works in the village.
Phase 1 upgrade works to Sallins wastewater network began on the 10th of January, closing some roads in the village.
Phase 2 of the upgrade is due to begin on Monday, 24th January.
Irish Water had previously noted Sallins, Clane, Naas, Newbridge and Kill were served by a wastewater network which was no longer fit for purpose, leading to overflows and flooding during storms.
Cllr Carmel Kelly of Fianna Fail commented: " It's wonderful that we are ahead of schedule, but these works are going to continue until the end of February.
"We are ahead of schedule for the first phase, it means the link road into Sallins is now open.
"Millbank was an oasis on its own for awhile," she said.
"Sallins is open for business," she insisted.
Cllr. Kelly spoke with Ciara Noble on Friday's Kildare Today:
