The Irish Hairdressers Federation is looking for an urgent meeting with ministers to highlight, what they say, is a crisis in the industry.

The IHF wants an extension to the period of time businesses have to repay tax under the warehouse scheme.

It also wants an increase in supports for hiring trainees and the shadow economy tackled.

Owner of the Hair and Beauty Lounge in Kildare Town, Sara Fitzpatrick, says the VAT rate going back up to 13.5% was another huge blow to the sector.
