Kildare County Council is seeking public feedback on a proposed recreational trail linking Naas, Newbridge, and Kilcullen via the Corbally Canal and River Liffey Valley.
The “Corbally Canal” stretches between Newbridge Road and Corbally Harbour, covering approximately 8 km and the River Liffey between Newbridge Bridge and Kilcullen Bridge extends to 10km.
If developed, it would provide a recreational amenity that would benefit Naas, Newbridge, Athgarvan, Kilcullen and the wider area.
According to the council, the Corbally Canal has the potential to be developed as a Blueway, if strict criteria are met.
Supported by the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme, a feasibility study by JBA Consulting will conclude in 2025.
