Kildare County Council is seeking public feedback on a proposed recreational trail linking Naas, Newbridge, and Kilcullen via the Corbally Canal and River Liffey Valley.
The “Corbally Canal” stretches between Newbridge Road and Corbally Harbour, covering approximately 8 km and the River Liffey between Newbridge Bridge and Kilcullen Bridge extends to 10km.
If developed, it would provide a recreational amenity that would benefit Naas, Newbridge, Athgarvan, Kilcullen and the wider area.
According to the council, the Corbally Canal has the potential to be developed as a Blueway, if strict criteria are met.
Supported by the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme, a feasibility study by JBA Consulting will conclude in 2025.
Public input is vital to shape the plan, with local residents and visitors encouraged to share their views via the online survey:
The survey will close on Wednesday, 2nd January 2025.
