Cannabis and edible jellies were seized
A man has been arrested in connection with a drug seizure in Athy
On Thursday, during the course of an operation Revenue officers seized approximately 17 kilograms of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €340,000.
During the course of a follow up search at an industrial premises in Athy, members of An Garda Síochána seized cannabis with an estimated value of €60,000 in addition to cannabis in the form of 272 packets of edible jellies with an estimated value of €13,600.
Gardaí arrested a man (40s) who was detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda Station in County Kildare.
This male has since been charged and is due to appear before a sitting of the Dublin District Court at the Criminal Courts of Justice, Court 1, at 10:30am this morning.
As part of an intelligence led operation targeting persons suspected to be involved in an organised crime group operating in the Kildare area, a joint operation was conducted by Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), the Kildare Divisional Drugs Unit and personnel attached to the Revenue Customs Service.
