A woman is being held at a garda station in Carlow
The man who died after a fatal assault that took place shortly after 11.40pm last night in Carlow Town has been named as 30-year-old father-of-two, Darren Quigley.
Gardaí were called to the scene at New Oak Estate last night, where a male in his 30s was found unresponsive.
Mr Quigley was pronounced dead at St. Luke's Hospital Kilkenny, and a woman is currently being held at a Garda station in the county in relation to the incident.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
They are also seeking anyone with camera footage, including dashcam recordings from road users in the New Oak Estate and nearby areas around the time of the incident.
