New Online Scam Using Kildare Village Images To Lure People Into Buying Fake Irish Brands

The Journal has reported Maud Kildare has run hundreds of ads across social media, purporting to be a business ran by two sisters

The Journal has reported online scammers are using AI images and images from other businesses to lure people into buying fake Irish brands.

These online scams include ads for discounted clothing items, as well as leather handbags, all sold by fake retailers.

Maud Kildare has run hundreds of ads across social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram and Messenger since June, and purports to be ran by two sisters.

Images on the Facebook profile are those of Kildare Village.

The most recent ad posted by Maud Village was a post stating: "Unfortunately, my sister and I have been forced to close our shop 😢.

"We are selling the latest collection of our own shoes and sandals at 50% off. We have put our hearts into making these shoes, sandals and supporting our customers, but running an online shop has proved more difficult than we imagined".

The Journal notes that page transparency information for Maud Village shows four admins of the business are based in Vietnam, with another based in the Netherlands.

The page is also listed as being created in 2022, when it was originally set up under the name “Xmdn Auto Tullm14q55a”, but changed its name to Maud Kildare in August.

This report by The Journal also details many more online scams, which can be read here.
