That's according to new figures from the Dept. of Education.
More than 5,190 children in Co. Kildare are being taught in primary school classes of in excess of 30 pupils.
That's according to the Dept. of Education, which says "The figures are based on mainstream classes in mainstream schools and are collated from the relevant Class Size tables"
There are 173 classes in schools across Kildare with 30 or more pupils.
That figure is far in excess of all surrounding counties, bar Meath and Dublin.
