KFM understands that an area engineer is due to visit the area next week.
Almost 200 people have signed a petition calling for safety measures on the Rathbride Road from the railway bridge all the way up to Kildare Town AFC.
It follows a number of incidents reported by locals.
On Sunday, February 4th, at around 9pm, a car speeding down the road crashed and knocked down three mature trees.
The vehicle ended up on top of a railing leading into Cloghgarret Abbey.
Locals believe it is only a matter of time before someone is killed.
KFM has seen video footage of cars speeding through the area.
Mark Whitney, who set up the petition, said: "The lack of traffic calming measures along this stretch encourages drivers to speed excessively. There have been numerous instances where drivers break red lights at the bridge next to the railway station."
He added: "I have personally witnessed cars driving through green pedestrian lights. The current situation poses significant risks for pedestrians and other road users alike in our community. It's only a matter of time before another accident happens – potentially with more devastating consequences."
A spokesperson for Kildare County Council said the council is aware of the incident that took place on Sunday
They said: "Appliances from Newbridge and Monasterevin attended the incident and Kildare County Council road crews cleared the debris and the stumps of a number of trees from the site following the incident. Kildare County Council is not aware of any issues with the road condition at the time of the incident and has not received the petition referred to below, and therefore is not in a position to comment further on its contents.
KFM understands that an area engineer is due to inspect the area next week.
The engineer has been made aware of footage shared by locals of cars speeding in the area.
Meanwhile, a number of locals have taken to social media to vent their frustration.
