The opening of the Sallins By-Pass has had the anticipated effect of shunting traffic on to Clane.
The route opened in April.
Traffic in Clane now regularly tails-back along the Naas and Kilcock roads.
Alexandra Bridge, one of the main arteries in to the town, was built in the 1860s, and requires remediation.

He says works planned for next year have been brought forward, but more is needed
Cllr McEvoy joined Eoin Beatty on Tuesday's edition of Kildare Today to discuss all of his motions before the September meeting of the MD
