A fine of €80 was imposed, accompanied by two penalty points.

The Naas Roads Policing Unit has warned drivers to check their tyres for wear and tear.

It comes after a driver stopped at a checkpoint in Sallins was found to have a dangerously worn tyre.

The vehicle was grounded until the worn tyre was replaced.
