A solar farm has been granted planning permission in Naas, with an operational period of 40 years.
Elgin Energy Services sought leave for a solar farm on a 10.8 hectare site at Kerdiffstown and Monread North.
The development includes photovoltaic panels on ground mounted frames, 4 transformer stations, on site security and CCTV.
Kildare County Council has granted a 10 year planning permission, which means work on the project can begin anytime up to 2031.
The development description, as published by KCC, is:
"a proposed solar farm on an area of approximately 10.8 hectares, comprising photovoltaic panels on ground mounted frames, 4 no. single storey inverter/transformer stations, 1 No. onsite terminal station, storage containers and temporary site compound, security fencing, new and upgraded internal access tracks, CCTV and all associated ancillary development works. Elgin Energy Services Limited are applying for the proposed solar farm to have planning permission that is effective for 10 years (and an operational period of 40 years)
