A committee member for the Newbridge Parade, which attracts thousands of locals, said it's a family fun day out, with a lot of children present.
Don't bring politics into it.
That's the message from an organiser of one of the many St Patrick's Day Events taking place throughout Kildare.
The warning came as concerns were raised that parades could be infiltrated by individuals promoting anti-immigrant sentiments or far-right groups, particularly in areas where tensions have been running high.
A committee member for the Newbridge Parade, which attracts thousands of locals, said it's a family fun day out, with a lot of children present.
He said one day off from all the protests "wouldn't do any harm".
Morgan McCabe said anyone taking part in the parade would be known to the committee.
He said it is a neutral, community event.
He said he understands that people are entitled to their political views, but he hopes people will refrain for just the one day of the year.
He said organisers of the parade have, in the past, avoided big political statements during parades.
