It has made submissions to the Oireachtas Education Committee.

The Dyslexia Association of Ireland has called for a broadening of the Leaving Cert.

In a submission to the Oireachtas Education Committee, on which sits Kildare Senator, Fiona O'Loughlin, DAI says a wider methodology of assessment is needed, which would spreading the load over the course of the two years.

That proposal is designed to reduce the stress on students.

The association wants an “holistic” approach to education, which places value on extra-curricular activities within the community, such as volunteering, student council, and sport.

It says it is of  “particular concern” that students with additional learning needs are enabled to participate in their subjects through “meaningful differentiation of teaching".

Rose Bisset is Chief Executive of the Dylsexia Association of Ireland.

She joined Clem Ryan on Tuesday's edition of Kildare Today.
