The 64 year old Liffey Descent gets underway in Straffan this morning.
The Canoeing and Kayaking race attracts participants from around the world with South Africa, Australia and the UK taking part.
The race begins at 12:00pm from the world famous K Club.
The event will cover a 32 kilometer route along the River Liffey finishing at the Garda Boat Club in Islandbridge.
