Visiting Restrictions Introduced At Naas General Hospital Due To Norovirus Concerns

Hospital urges public cooperation to help stop spread of infection

Naas General Hospital has introduced visiting restrictions from today, Friday April 18th, in response to an outbreak of norovirus circulating in the community.

Under the new measures, only one visitor per patient is allowed during designated visiting times — 2pm to 4pm and 6.30pm to 8.30pm — and visits are limited to 30 minutes.

No visitors are permitted on the Moate and Liffey wards, except on compassionate grounds.

Any visits outside of these hours must also be for critical or compassionate reasons and should be arranged in advance with the ward’s nurse in charge.

Hospital management is urging people not to visit if they are feeling unwell or experiencing symptoms such as a high temperature, cough, shortness of breath, or a loss or change in sense of smell or taste.

The hospital has thanked the public for their support, saying these measures are vital to protect patients, staff, and the wider community.

Meanwhile, members of the public with non-emergency medical issues are being encouraged to consider other care options, such as their local pharmacist, GP, out-of-hours GP service, or the Naas Hospital Injury Unit, located at Vista Primary Care.

More information on injury unit opening hours and out-of-hours GP services is available on the HSE website.
